Description

The REFLECT360 outdoor jacket is the world's first to be designed using a 100% reflective outer-shell. It has exactly the same design as the incredibly popular REFLECT360 cycling jacket but the outdoor version also includes an integrated fold away hood. The jacket's high quality material is designed to look and feel great while keeping the weather out. The reflective capability of the material helps other road users to identify your position on the road at night giving them extra time to react and manoeuvre appropriately. The REFLECT360 jacket incorporates multiple vents - front, shoulder/back and under arm. This allows the user to regulate body temperature. By opening the front zipper vents a 'through-flow' is achieved. The air enters the front vents, cools the body and exits via the shoulder/back vents. During the winter, the vents can be closed and are designed to also be used as extra pockets if required. These features enable the jacket to be used all year round. The jacket also has an inside chest pocket and large lower back pocket to store an extra layers or a map. About the fabric: the fabric used for the REFLECT360 range is highly technical. During daylight it is a modest grey colour. At night, when the fabric picks up an external light Source, eg vehicle headlights, it gives 'astonishing reflectivity' (quote: cycling active magazine Sep:2014). the material is CE EN 20471 certified.

As a daily commuter cyclist, during these winter months my morning ride into the office is cold and dark, and the ride home in the evening is... cold and dark. So the appeal of a jacket that purports to be one giant reflector is obvious. And thats exactly what this thing is. One giant reflector. Sitting in my normally-lit office, it almost appears to be glowing depending on where I am standing in the room. At other angles its just a grey jacket. The picture I am attaching to this review was taken in that same normally-lit office. The flash on my cell phone camera lit the jacket up like its radioactive, and turned the rest of the room pitch black to the camera lens.So... its freakishly bright (not painfully so) and thats a big deal. I've seen other reviewers say the same thing so lets all get past that. It has that part of its job down cold. What about the rest of it? Construction? Warmth? Ergonomics? Lets cover that stuff. As my review headline implies, sizing on this jacket is ridiculously wrong and the manufacturer lost the one star as a result of that. It is a UK company but the sizing for jackets is Chinese. But much skinnier than usual. The body of the jacket is fine. The breadth of the cut is about what you'd expect for a Chinese jacket (i.e. a size and a half too small) ... but the shoulders are if I were to guess 2 1/2 sizes under where they should be.I first used the handy chart included as part of the Amazon ad by the mfr. Using those measurements, I should fit into an XL which is my usual size. Now, reviewers have already tipped me off that the jacket is undersized. But the sizing chart is pretty specific so maybe they fixed sizing since those reviews came out? So... the XL arrives and its ridiculously small. Doesn't fully reach around my body (38 waist, 33/34 sleeves), sleeves are adequate at best but the shoulders are where the fitment earns the term 'ridiculous' I had to hunch my shoulders in and backwards to get into the thing. No way is that true to their size chart. So back it went and a XXL was ordered after Amazon promptly processed my refund.Amazon Prime gets me the jacket in a couple more days and ... the body fits fine. the sleeves are a bit long but OK in a lean-over riding posture... but the shoulders with me wearing just a t-shirt under the jacket are just barely fitting. I am sure if I tried to ride and relax my body I'd tear the jacket. So Back it goes, and since Amazon has no XXXL's in stock I order from the manufacturer in the UK. The XXXL arrives and... its a perfect, a-bit-roomy fit. Just a touch oversized which will be great for cycling. So... beware fitment and expect the possibility that you are going to have to seriously upsize. Now onto the jacket itself: As others have mentioned, it does appear to be of very good quality construction. Zippers are sturdy and easy to work up and down. Not thrilled with the backwards/female zipper orientation simply because for a guy it will be backwards but thats livable. The collar is nicely lined with thin fleece. there are big vents in the back, just under your shoulders for ventilation, and there are generous pit zips for the same reason. And I am sure I will need ventilation as this jacket is clearly not so breathable. As a cyclist, I can work with that no problem... Just open up the pit zips, be ready to zip the front down and if necessary wear no more than a t-shirt underneath. Should be fine down to the 30's with a t shirt, this jacket and some effort on the pedals.Summer time, on the other hand, thats going to be a challenge I think, so if you want this jacket to be a year-round safety feature, it might not work out. But as a waterproof, warm jacket you can work out in and still manage to be reasonably comfortable in... it looks like a real winner.
